Use
Acto-Pred (Methylprednisolone) is a corticosteroid used as a treatment against inflammation.
Acto-Pred (Methylprednisolone) can be prescribed to treat a variety of conditions ranging from arthritis, skin conditions, breathing disorders, lupus, psoriasis, allergic disorders to ulcerative colitis, and other conditions as prescribed by your physician.
Dosage and Administration
Dosage requirements of Acto-Pred (Methylprednisolone) vary dependent on the individual and the condition being treated. Always follow the instructions of your physician.
Side Effect
Side effects that may occur from taking Acto-Pred (Methylprednisolone) are the following;
Puffiness (facial swelling), changes in appetite (weight gain), nervousness (may worsen depression), acne, rashes and stomach upsets (may decrease if taken with food). These should be mild but if they become severe or persist seek your doctor’s advice as soon as possible.
Although unlikely and rare, if you experience any of the following side effects you should seek immediate medical attention. Osteoporosis (causes weakness possibly fractures), pain in the abdomen, black or bloody stools, infections, painful shoulders or hips, blurry vision, depression and fatigue.
Precautions
Always disclose all medication you are taking or have recently taken. Inform your physician of any allergies and if you have ever had any Fungal infections, diseases of the heart, kidney, intestinal or liver, high blood pressure, myasthenia gravis, diabetes, osteoporosis, ulcers, tuberculosis (TB), seizures, herpes eye infection, an under active thyroid gland and any mental illnesses.
Ensure your physician is aware if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breast feeding.
Acto-Pred (Methylprednisolone) may interact with other drugs, if you are having any surgery (including dental dental) let the surgeon know you are taking Acto-Pred (Methylprednisolone) in case they need to adjust their anesthetic.
Patients who take large amounts of aspirin or arthritis medication or have a medical history of ulcers should limit their alcohol consumption whilst taking this medication as Acto-Pred (Methylprednisolone) makes your intestines and stomach more susceptible to the effects of aspirin, alcohol and particular arthritis medications, increasing the risks of ulcers.
