Androcour (Cyproterone) is a front line medication used to treat cancer of the prostate in men. The drug functions to block the effects of the hormone testosterone, the dominant hormone in males. Androcur (Cyproterone) reduces the quantities of the hormone in the body, which is helpful in the treatment of cancer of the prostate.

Dosages:
You should only take this medication as prescribed by your health care provider. Your dosage will vary depending upon the condition and your medical history. In general terms, your health care provider will probably prescribe between two to four tablets daily, these should be taken after meals in around three doses. The strength of the dose is usually between 100 to 200 mg.

If you miss a dosage and only less than a couple of hours have passed, take your medication right away. In case too much time passes, never double a dose of the drug.

Side effects:

Precautions:

Do not use Androcur if you have chronic diabetic or liver disorder.

Inform your health care provider well in advance about any other medications you are taking or intend to take at the same time you intend to take Androcur. Failure to do this can result in severe consequences. Its especially dangerous to take Androcur (Cyproterone) with Ethinyl estradiol.

Use of the drug can also be mentally depressing. It can cause a patient to feel chronic tiredness and definite reduction in both energy and strength. This feeling of weakness tends to go away as the body adapts itself to the use of the medication. The adaptation process has been known to take around three months, and a patient must not cease use of the medication in this time.

Androcur (Cyproterone) can make the skin hypersensitive to sunlight, and makes the protection of the skin through the use of sunblock (protection factor 15) necessary. You should also wear protective clothing and avoid direct sunlight when possible.

Do not drive, nor do any sort of job that calls for a high level of physical and mental alertness while under the effect of the drug. Try to limit your consumption of alcohol when using the drug as well.
