When most of us breathe, the muscles that are wrapped around the air tubes (airways) are loose and relaxed, and the lining inside the airways is thin. This lets the airways open up wide so that it is easy to get air in and out of the small air sacs that make up your lungs. During an asthma attack, it is harder to breathe out than it is to breathe in. There are two types of inhalers that are mostly used to help treat asthma. A preventative, and a faster working treatment type. Inhalers like Ventolin are fast acting, whereas inhalers like Serevent simply help to prevent an asthma attack from happening.
