Use
Ceftorin is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a variety of different bacterial infections such as pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, strep throat, tonsillitis, and skin infections. It will not help with viral infections such as colds.
Dosage and Administration
Always dose as directed by your doctor or pharmacist, and never change your dosage without first consulting either. Dosage will vary depending on the patient, the condition being treated, and its severity.
To be taken orally with a glass of water, usually twice daily, with meals. For best results, take Ceftorin at evenly spaced intervals.
Finish the course of medication as prescribed even if all symptoms have disappeared. If you stop taking Ceftorin early your infection may resurface.
If you miss a dose, take the missed one as soon as possible. If however it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal. Never double-up a dose to make up for a previous missed one.
Side Effect
The following side effects are the most common ones experienced, usually requiring no medical attention. Consult your doctor however, if they persist, worsen, or become bothersome.
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Heart burn
- Headaches
- Swelling
- Burning, irritation, or itching of the vagina
- Abnormal vaginal discharge
The following side effects are unlikely, but serious. If you experience any of the following contact your doctor immediately.
- Difficulty breathing
- Closing of the throat
- Increased hunger, or thirst
- Abnormal urinatation
- Fever
- Seizures
- Rash
- Itching
- Hives
- Yellowing of the skin or eyes
- Abnormal easy bruising or bleeding
- Fast pounding heartbeat
Precautions
Prior to taking Ceftorin discuss your medical history with your doctor. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, are breast feeding, or you have or have had any of the following.
- Any allergies
- Any other medications you are using, whether prescribed, or non-prescription
- A liver conditon
- A kidney condition
- A carnitine deficiency
- A metabolic disorder
Whilst using Ceftorin:
- Keep all appointments with your doctor
- Inform your doctor if your condition is not improving or is getting worse
- Always consult your doctor before ceasing use of this medication
- Never change your dosage unless recommended by your doctor
- If diabetic, do not use Clinitest to test your urine, use Clinistix or TesTape as alternatives
