What is Finast? Finast is a generic version of Propecia. It contains the same active ingredient as Propecia but at much less cost. It works by inhibiting an enzyme that changes testosterone into dihydrotestosterone or DHT. The increase levels of DHT are believed to be a contributing factor men's hairloss. Finast is also used to treat the condition known as benign prostate hyperplasia or BPH. BPH is a condition that occurs in older men (65 years +) and results in an enlarged prostate gland. Studies have suggested that untreated BPH may be a contributing factor in prostate cancer.
How is Finast used? Typically you will be prescribed to take 1 tablet daily. However you should only use Finast as directed by your doctor. If you are taking Finast for hair growth, it may take 3 months or more before noticing any significant effect.
Adverse effects The most common side effect reported after taking Finast is decreased sexual desire and function. Some patients may have other reactions to taking Finast that could indicate an allergy to the medication. If you experience a skin rash or swelling of the lips, see your doctor.
Warnings Women who are pregnant or considering pregnancy should avoid any contact with Finast. This medication is known to cause birth defects in male fetus. If you accidently come into contact with Finast, see your doctor immediately. Taking Finast alongside other medications may result in either unwanted side effects or reduced effectiveness of Finast. You should tell your doctor if you are taking any other medications, especially if you are taking cold, allergy or diet medicines or vitamin supplements.
