Use

Flixonase is a corticosteroid nasal spray which is used to treat inflammation and swelling of the nasal passages. It can be prescribed to treat hay fever attacks, and for year round allergic conditions.


Dosage and Administration

Always dose as directed by your doctor. Use as directed by the instructions. Always follow the course of medicine as prescribed, unless advised otherwise by your doctor. It can take several days before the effects of this medication are seen.

Usually used 1 or 2 times daily at the same times. Never exceed 2 sprays per nostril per day.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If however it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue from your next dose as normal. Never double-up a dose to compensate for a previous missed one.


Side Effect

The following side effects are mild and should not require medical attention. If any become bothersome inform your doctor as soon as possible.

  • Nasal dryness or irritation
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Wheezing or coughing
The following side effects are more serious side effects, usually brought on my prolonged use of this medication. If you experience any of the following seek immediate medical attention.
  • Nasal pain
  • Nose bleeds
  • Severe sore throat or pain when swallowing
  • Increased thirst or urination
  • Abnormal weakness
  • Weightloss
  • Fever
  • White patches on back of throat
  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Swelling
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Dizziness


Precautions

Prior to taking Flavospas discuss fully your medical history with your doctor, along with any prescription or non-prescription medication you are taking. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, are breast feeding, and you have or have had:

  • Any allergies
  • Nasal ulcers
  • Nasal trauma
  • Nasal surgery
  • Tuberculosis
  • Any active infections, including herpes
  • Glaucoma
  • Reduced adrenal gland function
Whilst using Flavospas:
  • Until you know how the medication affects you, take extra care driving or operating heavy and dangerous machinery


  • Limit your use of alcohol


  • Seek immediate medical attention if exposed to measles or chicken pox


  • Keep all appointments with your doctor


  • Inform your doctor if your condition is not improving or is getting worse


  • Always consult your doctor before ceasing use of this medication


  • Never change your dosage unless recommended by your doctor


If you think you have overdosed, seek immediate medical attention
