High Cholesterol

Nicotinic acid is a B complex vitamin also known as B3 or niacin and is synthesized in the body from the amino acid tryptophan and is involved with the metabolism of glucose, fat, and alcohol. Nicotinic acid lowers blood levels of cholesterol and lipids by inhibiting production of very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) known as the bad cholesterol component. Oral therapy reduces cholesterol.
