Uses
Irovel (Irbesartan) is prescribed either on its own or in conjunction with other medication to treat high blood pressure. It may also be used to treat some patients with kidney problems caused by diabetes.
This medication is an angiotensin II receptor blocker that helps to lower your blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels in your body.
Dosage & Administration
Your dose depends on your medical history and the exact condition you are treating. Always use Irovel (Irbesartan) as prescribed by your physician, with or without food.
For best results, take Irovel (Irbesartan) at regular intervals, at the same time every day.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Irovel (Irbesartan) include dizziness, diarrhea, and tiredness. If these symptoms worsen or persist, contact your physician.
Less common side effects of Irovel (Irbesartan) include symptoms of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of your face, tongue, or lips, difficulty breathing, hoarseness, a rash, tightness in your chest, hives or itching, chest pain, a change in urination frequency or dark urine, muscle cramps or pain, a slow, irregular, or fast heartbeat, persistent tiredness or dizziness, changes in your vision, and jaundice. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your physician immediately or seek emergency medical treatment.
Precautions
Do not take Irovel (Irbesartan) if you’re allergic to it or to any of its ingredients.
Always inform your physician if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding. Also be sure to inform your physician of any allergies you have, and of any other prescription, non-prescription, or herbal supplements you are taking.
Irovel (Irbesartan) can cause severe damage and possible death to a fetus if taken in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. It is essential you tell your physician you are pregnant if you are prescribed Irovel (Irbesartan).
Tell your physician if you have angioedema, any heart problems, diabetes, kidney problems, or if you have had a heart attack or a stroke recently.
