Use
Irovel is an angiotensin receptor blocker. It is primarily used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), congestive heart failure, and prescribed to diabetes sufferers whose kidneys are at risk of damage. It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin, resulting in relaxing and widening of the blood vessels.
Dosage and Administration
Always dose as prescribed by your doctor. Dosage will vary dependant on the patient and the condition being treated.
To be taken orally, with or without food, usually once daily at the same time each morning.
It is important that unless recommended otherwise by your doctor, you always finish the full course of medication as prescribed.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If however it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal from the next dose. Never double-up a dose to compensate a previous missed one.
Side Effect
The following side effects should not require any medical attention. You should inform your doctor if they persist, worsen, or become bothersome.
- Dizziness
- Lightheadedness
- Blurred vision
- Stomach pains
- Heartburn
The following side effects are more serious. If experienced you should inform your doctor immediately.
- Fainting
- Abdominal pains
- Severe nausea
- Yellowing of the eyes or skin
- Abnormal fatigue
- Impotence
- Change in urination color or frequency
If you think you have suffered an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of this can include rashes, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing, and severe dizziness.
Precautions
Prior to taking Irovel, discuss fully your medical history and any prescription or non-prescription medication you take with your doctor. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, are breast feeding, or if you have had any of the following.
- Any allergies
- Any recent sickness
- Any heart conditions
- Any liver diseases
- Any kidney diseases
- Any potassium or sodium related conditions
- Diabetes
Whilst using Irovel:
- Take special care when driving or operating heavy and dangerous machinery until you know how Irovel affects you
- Kidney function, and blood potassium level tests should be taken routinely to check your progress
- You should talk to your doctor about lifestyle changes which can be made to reduce the risk of high blood pressure
- Never share your medication, even if someone has the same condition as you
- Never change your dosage, start, or stop using Irovel unless recommended by your doctor
- If you think you have overdosed, seek immediate medical attention
