Use
Ixel is indicated in the treatment of clinical depression, chronic pain and fibromyalgia; it is sold in the USA under 'Savella' for treatement of fibromyalgia.
Available in 25mg, as capsules, Ixel is a prescription drug. All uses should follow your medical practitioner's instructions.
Dosage and Administration
Generally, Ixel is taken twice daily: one (1) capsule of Ixel is taking in the morning, and one (1) in the evening, preferably during meals, and with a glass of water. However, as Ixel is a prescribed medication, you should strictly adhere to your health care provider's directions.
In the same way as other antidepressants, Ixel should be taken for a number of days before the effects are felt. Treatment may last several months, but should not be discontinued without medical advice; consult your health care provider for further information.
Side Effects
Side effects may include:
- Itching, nausea, vertigo
- Increased anxiety
- Sweating, shivering
- Dysuria and testicle pain
Other observed side effects are:
- Hypertension
- Hypotension
- Tachycardia
Warnings and Precautions
Alcohol should be avoided while taking Ixel. In addition, do not operate machinery or drive when first starting Ixel, as there may be a risk of dizziness.
You should not take Ixel with various:
- Antidepressants (iproniazide, nialamide)
- Anti-Parkinson medications (selegiline)
- Medications for cardiac diseases (digitalis, digoxine)
- Anti-migraine drugs (Sumatriptan; others in the same class)
- Drugs for the cardiovascular system
Speak with your health care provider or chemist regarding the specific medications which cannot be taken with Ixel.
Ixel is contraindicated in breast-feeding as it is known to be excreted in small amounts in breast milk. Ify ou are pregnant, it is also better not to take Ixel. |
