Side effects, that may go away during treatment, include nausea, vomiting, bleeding between menstrual periods, breast tenderness, or weight change. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. What precautions should be taken? The medical reasons against using Ovral are the same as for other oral contraceptives. If you have been advised against using oral contraceptives for medical reasons, please mention this to your doctor. Smoking cigarettes whilst using this medication may increase your risk of stroke, heart attack, blood clots, high blood pressure, or other disease of the heart and blood vessels. Taking certain antibiotics or anticonvulsants while you are using this medicine may decrease the effectiveness of this medicine. This medicine is not 100% effective against pregnancy – use a condom.
