RETIN-A(Tretinoin)

60 gm Tube with 0.025% Tretinoin
Manufactured by Janssen-Cilag Pty Ltd

What is it?
Retin-A Cream has several uses. One of them is that it can be used in conjunction with the hairloss medication Minoxidil. Retin-A’s main active ingredient, Tretinoin works by increasing the turnover of skin cells and speeds up the shedding of dead cells, therefore helping Minoxidil be absorbed faster into the scalp to increase hair follicle production. This action of increasing skin cell turnover makes Retin-A widely and popularly used for the treatment of acne, and can also diminish the visible signs of ageing – removing lines and fades sun spots.

How do you apply it?
Apply sparingly to the scalp before use of Minoxidil, or if for skincare, apply sparingly to affected areas. It is best applied at night because Retin-A is decomposed by strong light.

What are the side effects?
Immediately after applying, the skin may feel warm or mild stinging or redness may occur. Some peeling of the skin may occur. These effects should subside as your skin adjusts to the medication. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor.

What precautions should be taken?
This product can make your skin more sensitive to sunburn. When using this product try to avoid too much sun and protect the area of treatment with hats and sunscreen. This medication should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Abrasive soaps, cleansers, medicated creams or lotions can increase skin irritation. Consult your doctor or pharmacist about their use.
