Use
Soframycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic, used topically on its own or in combination with other medication to treat infections of the skin, eyes, ears, and nose. It can also be prescribed for gastrointestinal infections.
Dosage and Administration
Always dose and use exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. Never change your dosage or stop taking Soframycin unless recommended by your health care provider.
As with all antibiotics it is important to always finish the course of medication as prescribed.
To be used with or without food.
If you miss a dose of Soframycin, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed on and continue as normal.
Side Effect
Soframycin is generally well tolerated and side effects are normally mild, not requiring any medical attention. Inform you health care provider as soon as possible if any of the following side effects persist, worsen, or become bothersome.
- Itching or irritation
- Loss or change in vision
- Burning sensation
- Inflammation
- Stinging
- Pressure inside the eye
Precautions
Prior to taking Soframycin, discuss fully with your health care provider your medical history, along with any prescription or non-prescription medication you are taking. Always inform your health care provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, are breast feeding, or if you have had any of the following.
- Any allergies
- Puss producing eye conditions
- Infections of the eye
- Inflammation of the eye
- Glaucoma
Whilst using Soframycin:
- Refrain from driving or operating heavy and dangerous machinery until you know how Soframycin affects you.
- Limit alcohol consumption
- It is advised you have regular eye examinations
- Never share your medication, even someone has the same condition as you
- Never change your dosage, start or stop using Soframycin unless recommended by your health care provider
- Inform your health care provider if your condition worsens or has shows no signs of improvement
- If you think you have overdosed, seek immediate medical attention
