Use
Soframycin is an aminoglycoside type antibiotic, used topically treat a variety of infection types including cuts and wounds, burns, scalds, ulcers, boils, impetigo, furunculosis, sycosis barbae, otitis externa, and paronychia. It is also used to treat secondary infections such as lice and scabies.
Dosage and Administration
Soframycin skin cream is to be applied locally to the infections, usually 1-4 times per day.
Always dose and use as prescribed by your health care provider. As with all antibiotics it is essential you finish the course of medication as prescribed.
Side Effect
Soframycin skin cream is generally well tolerated and associated side effects are normally mild, requiring no medical attention. If any persist, worsen, or become bothersome, inform your health care provider as soon as possible.
- Itching or irritation
- Burning sensation
- Inflammation
- Stinging
If you suspect you have suffered an allergic or hypersensitive reaction to the cream, stop using it and inform your health care provider.
Precautions
Prior to using Soframycin cream, discuss your medical history fully with your health care provider. Always inform your health care provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, are breast feeding, or if you have had any of the following.
- Any allergies
- Any other medication whether prescribed or non-prescribed
- Any skin conditions
Whilst using Soframycin:
- Never share your medication, even someone has the same condition as you
- Never change your dosage, start, or stop using Soframycin unless recommended by your health care provider
- Inform your health care provider if your condition worsens or has shows no signs of improvement
- If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention
- If you think you have overdosed, seek immediate medical attention
